PARENT-SCHOOL CONNECTIONS

If it concerns parenting, chances are LSPC can help, or direct you to a community resource that can. That includes helping parents build the bridge to school success for their children. So, while our focus is on filling the learning and development gap between birth and school, we stick with our community’s kids right through their childhood. We assist families with the social and emotional adjustment as their child transitions from home into preschool, kindergarten and beyond.

LSPC continues to facilitate the parent-school connection by reaching out to parents and supporting them to engage in their children’s education. Research shows that children whose parents are involved in their education do better in school. Children with involved parents have better grades and school attendance, increased motivation and self-esteem, lower rates of suspension, decreased use of drugs and alcohol and fewer instances of violent behavior.

Through coordination, LSPC acts as a conduit for learning-minded organizations and volunteers to make an impact in schools. Young lives are steered in more positive directions and every child has a better chance at reaching his full potential!
